Lagniappe ⚜ (a lil extra)

Can’t decide if I am mad, sad, defiant, amused, or (?) as I read that the DOE has banned the use of the words “climate change”, “emissions”, and “green”.

News Scan: Updates to Track 📰

According to reporting by Politico, the DOE has included a variety of words such as “green” “sustainability” and “climate change” as “words to avoid”. Ummm…yeahhh. I’ll leave it there.

Several Puerto Rican local governments filed a federal lawsuit again fossil fuel companies, claiming that because of their action (and inaction) that they should be responsible for the damages that happened during Hurricanes Maria and Irma. This was dropped by the federal judges. The municipalities state

"Instead of disclosing the truth about their products and their impact on Puerto Rico, the Oil Defendants mobilized with the Coal Defendants and other fossil fuel-dependent companies in 1989 to form the “Global Climate Coalition” (“GCC”). Through the GCC, Defendants funded a marketing campaign of deception that continues to this day, in violation of federal and Puerto Rico consumer protection rules, anticompetitive practices, racketeering statutes, and common law,"

The claims against the oil companies were dismissed with prejudice, meaning that this case cannot be brought forward again(not a lawyer! 🙅🏾‍♂️). The oil companies involved were “Exxon, Shell, Chevron, BP, ConocoPhillips, and Motiva.”
