Lagniappe ⚜ (a lil extra)

A man asked me for a dollar. I told him I only carry big bills. He asked for one of those. I gave him my electric bill.

Dad Jokes (@dadsaysjokes.com) 2025-10-05T21:11:52.380Z

News Scan: Updates to Track 📰

The cancellation of the billions in Solar For All funding is destroying what would have been ~200,000 new jobs across the country while guaranteeing 20% electric bill savings for households. I don’t know if y’all have been paying attention but electric bills are going up and the job market is 😳. And let’s not forget that approximately 28,000,000 Americans, right here, right now, are already energy burdened, spending more than 6% of their income on energy bills. The SELC is joined by Lawyers for Good Government, Conservation Law Foundation, the Lawyers Committee for Rhode Island, the Rhode Island AFL-CIO, and Solar United Neighbors.

“If you are receiving this transmission before 2030, I know that you are living in a dark chapter of our lineage—facing a global rise in authoritarianism, g*n*c*de, wars, extreme climate disasters, and a regression of rights. This letter from the future is meant to give you hope about what is possible and share how your decisions led to the emergence of a new economic system and thriving world. I am calling to you from a future you helped create and want to remind you that possibility is not lost.”

My note of caution though, Ancestor, is to please not mistake hope for ease. Your generation will need to make some hard decisions about who should own, govern, and steward resources at an individual and communal level. These decisions will require courage and the belief that what you experience now in the world can be different and so much better.

This letter shares the story of organizations and movements that exist right now in the 2025. These are orgs like the Kensington Corridor Trust who are having locally and collective owned land and real estate to revitalize a de-industrialized North Philadelphia

In solidarity,
