Last week the current administration announced the cancellation of the $7B Solar for All Grant programs. And how did awardees find out? They found out via a tweet on the former bird app π. So many households across the country are energy-burdened (spending more than 6% of income on energy). Given the increasing affordability of renewable energy, the SFA program on average would lower bills by $400/year. AND keep in mind that energy bills will continue going up as data centers are rapidly being spun up to meet increased AI demand. This press release from WE ACT lays out whats at stake.
A coalition of funders is collaborating to create a new fund to deploy proven building decarbonization technologies across the country. The emerging fund is expected to deploy capital grants sized $50,000 - $250,000. Details are still early on but watch this space for opportunities to finance and construct the building we need to meet the moment.
Last week we mentioned that organizers and negotiators from around the world are gathered in Geneva to discuss the plastics treaty and are primarily advocating for a global cap on production. This visual from Grist shows that this is most effective way to combat the plastic pollution crisis.
Salute to the negotiators π«‘
