News Scan: Updates to Track 📰

Climate Leaders Warn About Potential Trump Action Against Environmental Groups by Marianne Lavelle for Inside Climate News: This is really the only story to cover on this 55th Earth Day. The current administration is reported to be preparing to issue several executive orders threatening the 501c3 tax-exempt status for organizations working on climate and environmental justice. Not only would this be financially devastating to the individual orgs, it would also create a chilling effect of drying up the well of future funding for these orgs as individual donors and foundations rely on the tax exempt status as a financial incentive to fund these orgs.

Former Washington State Governor Inslee had this to say

It would “silence anyone who has the temerity to say children ought to have clean air and that we ought to not have our cities burning down because of climate-induced fires,” Inslee said. “We cannot, will not be, and must not be silenced.””

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events 🗓️
