  • This past weekend, Climate United Fund, a coalition comprised of leading CDFIs and climate orgs such as Calvert Impact, Community Preservation Corporation, and Self-Help Credit Union, sued the U.S. EPA and Citibank over the freezing of funds awarded to the organization through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

“This isn’t about politics; it’s about economics,” said Beth Bafford, CEO of Climate United. “This program was designed to save money for hard-working Americans who are struggling to pay for groceries and keep the lights on.  We’re going to court for the communities we serve — not because we want to, but because we have to.”

Undoubtedly we’re living in volatile, uncertain times. In moments such as these, its important to look to history for patterns, for wisdom, for perspective.

An elder in my community recently let me borrow this book detailing the notes of organizing members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee aka SNCC. She reminded me that 1) this book is no longer in print so I better take care of it 😂 (yes ma’am 🫡) and 2) we make it through together— even when it seems unimaginable, perhaps this is especially true when it seems unimaginable.

Forward we go ✊🏽
